Special Events Volunteer
Invalid Input
These volunteers are people who would like to help from time to time but who cannot commit to in-depth training or ongoing service. Examples of service opportunities include special events like our annual Earth Day Celebration, Pioneer Day, Civil War History Day, cleanup events like Rivers Alive, and restoration activities like invasive species control efforts. These opportunities are open to individuals, families, or groups. Age minimums will vary by event, but all volunteers under the age of 16 must volunteer with an adult.
Core Service
Core Service Volunteer
Invalid Input
These volunteers commit to helping on a regular basis. They receive training and can take on greater responsibilities than Special Event Volunteers. GEHC Core Service Volunteers must be at least 16 years old, but if a GEHC Core Service Volunteer wishes to volunteer together with his or her family, we will attempt to match that volunteer with some tasks that will permit his or her family members to serve as helpers when appropriate. Activities include assisting with education programs, lab programs, citizen science projects, birthday parties, storytelling, educational outreach programs, conducting museum tours, nature hikes, trail maintenance, stream clean-up, gardening, and micro-irrigation.
Specialist
Specialist Volunteer
Invalid Input
These volunteers have special knowledge and skills they would like to share. Specialists generally do not volunteer on a regular basis, but instead are contacted if their specific skill or knowledge matches our programming needs. Specialists may need to attend some training, depending on their specific service. Examples include serving as a guest speaker, judging a science fair or other special event, demonstrating special crafts, sharing knowledge about sustainable environments, playing a musical instrument for events, or providing assistance with photography, design, or other visual arts.
