Field Trip Check List

IMPORTANT FIELD TRIP PLANNING INFORMATION
Please download and print this and/or share with all teachers/chaperones that will attend.

Double Check

  • Double check your program, dates, arrival times and duration of your program.
  • If you have an increase or decrease of 15 or more in the number of students coming to the Center, please advise the registrar at least 24 hours prior to arrival at 770.904.3513 or by email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
  • Check your chaperone ratios; please have the correct number of chaperones for the safety of the students.  Pre-K: 1:5  Elementary: 1:9  Middle: 1:14
  • Bus Parking is on the bus turn around or black top only.  Please notify bus drivers that buses are too heavy to park on pavers or in parking space
  • Exploratory Program– Elementary Grades K-2:
    Have your students in 4 groups of no more than 25 students (100 students MAX).
  • Exploratory Program - Elementary Grades 3-5 & Middle School Grades:
    Have your students in 4 groups of no more than 28 students (112 students MAX). 
  • Museum Tour – Elementary Grades K-2:
    Have your students in 3 groups of no more than 25 students (75 students MAX). 
  • Museum Tour – Elementary Grades 3-5 & Middle School Grades:
    Have your students in 4 groups of no more than 28 students (112 students MAX). 
  • Museum Tour – High School Grades:
    Have your students in 3 groups of no more than 28 students (84 students MAX). 
  • High School Labs & Water Quality Field Study:
    Have your students in 4 groups of no more than 28 students (112 students MAX).
    Hill Plant Tours -- Middle  & High School:
    Have your students in 4 groups of no more than 28 students (112 students MAX).

 

Payment:

  • Payment is due upon arrival the day of your field trip.  (Deposit applies toward total admission.)
  • There should be ONE teacher or contact person to handle check in/admissions payment.
  • Have a count of the following: Students, Teachers & Chaperones (separated not combined).
  • You will receive a receipt on the day of your field trip.
  • Credit card is the preferred and easiest method of payment, but checks and cash are accepted.


Lunch:

  • If you wish to have lunch at the Center, arrangements must be made through the registrar prior to arrival. The GEHC does not transport or facilitate lunch materials; this is the responsibility of the school/group attending -- rain or shine.  If you do not schedule with the registrar prior to arrival a lunch space may not be available.

 

Arrival:

  • Arrival time should be 10-15 minutes prior to scheduled program start time.
  • Maps and directions can be found on our web site www.gwinnettEHC.org; please do not rely on GPS directions.
  • Have students remain on buses until payment is complete or met by a GEHC staff member.

 

What to wear:

  • Sneakers or comfortable walking shoes are required.  (No open-toe shoes, flip flops or heels)
  • Comfortable, outdoor, protective clothing that is season appropriate is recommended.

 

Chaperones:

  • Chaperones should be ready to be active and assist their group’s teachers in any way needed.
  • GEHC Field Trips include walking and outdoor components on trails (if weather permits).
