SPECIALTY CLASSES ON TUESDAYS



Practical Economics  

Do you know how to set up a budget and stick to it? Need to build a model for a science lesson and it requires purchasing materials? These questions and more will be covered in our new 6-week Practical Economics class. Learn the basics of money management and financial stability. Cost includes a workbook.

Class meets Tuesdays from 10am-12noon for 6 weeks on Feb 28, Mar 6, Mar 13, Mar 20, Mar 27, and Apr 3.

Ages: Grade 7 and up

Bring A Classic To Life Series  

A Book study on Julie of the Wolves by Jean Craighead George…
We will examine how writers convey mood, characterization, and suspense in order to engage the reader.  Unpack this classic story with new friends and practice some of George's techniques winning her the Newbery Award. The first in a three book series follows a young Alaskan girl through being adopted by a wolf pack, then returning to her Inuit people.
Class meets for 4 weeks on Tuesday mornings from 10am-12noon on Feb 28, Mar 6, Mar 13, and Mar 20

Ages: Grades 4-8

Cost: Package D and $7.00 Book Fee


A continuation in our book series …Bring A Classic To Life….  

Join the reading adventure as students dive deep into an abridged version of 20,000 Leagues Under the Seas by Jules Verne. Follow the adventures of Captain Nemo and his crew aboard the submarine, Nautilus. Explore the complexity of Nemo’s strategies to prevent war and consider the opportunities a whale-shaped submarine could take you with friends that also enjoy a good story.

Class meets for 4 weeks on Tuesdays from 10:00am-12noon on Mar 27, Apr 10, Apr 17, and Apr 24.

Ages: Grades 4-8

Cost: Package D and $7.00 Book Fee

 

All About Pollinators…  

It’s time to celebrate the efforts of pollinators! Join the GEHC staff as we explore all about birds, bees, bats, and butterflies through hands-on activities and creative projects. Learn how to create habitats for them and be a part of planting a pollinator garden.

Class meets Tuesdays for 6 weeks from 10am-12noon on Apr 10, Apr 17, May 1, May 8, May 15, and May 22 (skipping Apr 24).

Ages: All Ages welcome; children 7 and under need an adult assistant 

Cost: Package A + $10 material fee
