Professional Development Opportunities

The Gwinnett Environmental & Heritage Center has partnered with the University of Georgia College of Environment and Design to develop continuing education courses for K-12 teachers. Our Professional Development courses focus on environmental sustainability, natural resource use, and current issues. Each course will broaden your understanding about the environment and teach you how to effectively apply the course information in your career.

Teachers, are you interested in learning how to better incorporate environmental topics or outdoor education into your classroom lessons? Do you wish you knew more about sustainability, conservation, or current environmental issues? Would a stronger background in subjects like Ecology, Environmental Science, and Landscape Architecture help improve your teaching experience? If so, consider attending a teacher workshop at the Gwinnett Environmental & Heritage Center. We are approved by the Georgia Department of Education to offer our workshops for Professional Learning Unit (PLU) Credit. Participants in all workshops can receive PLU credit unless otherwise noted. The content of each workshop will be correlated with the Georgia Performance Standards (GPS).

Upcoming Teacher Workshops

Do you have suggestions for an environmental sustainability or outdoor education related PLU course that you and your colleagues would find useful? If so, please let us know! We may be able to create a program that meets your needs.
