Group Tours

 

 

 

Come enjoy one of the most unique Centers in the southeast! The Gwinnett Environmental & Heritage Center is an educational facility that teaches the community about its importance to be good stewards of the environment and its cultural heritage. It serves as a model for green architecture by using eco-friendly products. Make your trip special by visiting our hands-on exhibits, walking our trails, and eating a picnic lunch at our pavilion.

 

 

 

Discovery Group Tour:

  • admission to all exhibits (Rivers-to-Reefs, Waterways, Discover H2O)
  • Blue Planet Theatre (12 minute presentation)
  • short hike (multi-surfaced trail system)

You will be greeted and led by a Program Specialist throughout the exhibits and hike. The program length is 90 minutes. Please wear comfortable clothing and closed toes shoes (no heelies, please). Please note we have outdoor picnic tables and dining area space for you to bring a sack lunch.

Prices: Children (ages 3-12): $6/$9*, Adults: $8/$11*

Guided Group Tour:

We welcome your group to participate in a guided group tour. These tours are most appropriate for adults, older students, and senior citizens. At this time we are currently offering three types of tours, please specify when making your reservation. In addition to the tour, a brief educational demonstration (topics vary monthly) or a short walk can be offered upon request.

    Tour of Exhibits
    Receive a more in-depth tour of Waterways and Rivers-to-Reefs.
    Waterways: come explore the cultural history of the region. Meet the Cherokee and Creek people, learn how water was harnessed to turn grinding stones to make flour, and examine the impact of growth in Gwinnett County.
    Rivers-to-Reefs: examine the freshwater fish of Georgia and our reptile friends, then expand your experience by learning about our ocean critter and touch tanks.
    Tour of Building
    Receive insight into the many features of our Gold Certified Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Building.

     

    F. Wayne Hill Water Resources Center Group Tour

    You helped make the water dirty, now see what it takes to make it clean. On this tour you will follow the steps of wastewater treatment and see it all: from the grimy, gritty beginnings to the crystal clear water we send back into the environment. Learn how reclaimed water is used around the county and at the GEHC. This tour takes 2 hours to complete. Please wear closed toe shoes.

     

      Prices: $10 in county, $15 out of county

      Please note: groups tours include complementary admission for the tour leader and bus/coach driver, provided the group has 10 or more paid admissions.


       

       

       

       

       

       

       

       

       

       

       

       

      Scheduling A Tour

      Reservations are required for all visits of 10 or more adults. Space is limited, so please make your group reservation at least two weeks in advance. A time slot of 90 minutes is recommended to allow your group to fully enjoy the museum and The Imaginarium, its gift shop. Please limit groups to no more than 50 per time slot.

       

       

      Payment

      A non-refundable $30 deposit is needed to secure your reservation. The remaining payment is due upon your arrival. At time of payment, all members of the group must be present. If you bring a prepared check that is different from the total amount due upon arrival, you will be expected to pay the balance due, if any. Payment can be made by cash, check, or credit card. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover Card.

      Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled tour time. This allows time for bus unloading, payment, and restroom and water fountain visits without consuming tour time. Bus parking is available in the museum's lot. If your group will be more than 15 minutes late, please notify the center at 770.904-3500. Large groups may be given admission wristbands as proof of payment.Please reference our printable directions on the website and do not use Mapquest.

       

       

      Gift Shop

      Groups are invited to visit The Imaginarium, the center's gift shop.

       

       

      Cancellations/Rescheduling

      The center can accommodate only a limited number of visitors at any given time. As a courtesy to other guests, if you are unable to be here on your scheduled day, please notify the center immediately to cancel or reschedule your visit. Your cooperation will enable us to accommodate another group in your place.

       

       

      Safety and Security

      For the safety of our visitors, please make sure any children with your group do not run inside the building, and they are supervised by an adult at all times. We ask that you maintain an adult to child ratio of 1:8, and refrain from cell phone use during the tour.
